Blooming Scar is a tribute to breast cancer survivors and a call to awareness. The work portrays a woman who has undergone a double mastectomy, her scars visible and unhidden. Rather than concealment, the scars become a site of strength and truth. Her eyes, covered in flowers, symbolize healing and a reimagined vision of self, while a pink flower blooms from her chest as a mark of survival and awareness. The textured jeans, constructed
from dyed cornhusk, embody resilience, transforming a fragile material into something enduring. Across her body, my signature line patterns trace honesty, strength, healing, and growth, carrying
her story beyond the canvas.
The calmness of her presence resists pity. She is not broken or diminished; she is Blooming Scar, a living testament to survival, beauty, and the need for continued breast cancer awareness.
